Philosophy
Little Castle Childcare & Preschool is a local, family owned business that was established in August of 2008 by Gildardo & Maria Pico.
We pride ourselves on providing our children and families with the best care possible. We do this by providing a safe and secure environment where children can thrive. All of our classrooms are assigned by ages because we believe that grouping children by exact age will help improve their development.
Little Castle Childcare believes that the first four years of a child's life are the most crucial. This is when a child is learning, growing, and developing the most. This is why we track each of our child's growth in the four major developmental areas: Social, Emotional, Cognitive, and Physical.
We create individual Portfolios for each of our students which help us keep track of each child's progress. Their portfolio includes work samples, pictures, developmental checklist, and anecdotal notes from their teacher. Our teachers make observations throughout each day to help gather information and identify the needs of each child. These portfolios help us identify each child's strengths as well as areas they may need more help with.
Little Castle has a strong curriculum for each of our classrooms. Lesson plans are created weekly and are based on the learning theme we have for the month.
Health & Safety
We understand how important a healthy diet is for children, this is why we provide five meals daily at no cost to parents. All of these meals are nutritious and upheld to the standards of the CACFP and USDA.
Little Castle Childcare follows all AZ Health Department Guidelines to provide a clean, healthy, and safe environment for all of the children in our care. All of our locations have a Health and Safety Specialist to ensure that all of our health procedures are upheld at all times.
On top of that, we have security doors at all of our locations to ensure that only parents, families, and staff can enter the building. Each authorized person is given a security pin so they can enter the building at any time during business hours.
All Little Castle locations have an industrial kitchen and a lead Cook. We pride ourselves on receiving an outstanding rating with the Pima County Health Department. All of our locations have a certified Food Protection Manager and all of our staff has a valid Food handlers Certificate.
